Casting Masterclass

Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd November 2014

Led by renowned Casting Director, Suzy Catliff www.suzycatliff.co.uk who tells it like it is from the Casting side of the table! Advice on headshots, CV's, approaching agents & finding work. Suzy is co-author of The Casting Handbook (pub. Routledge), a practical guide to casting - how to approach it & what it means.

What is your Casting? How to increase your casting potential

Two days of intensive casting practice and discussion, where you will work individually and together. The workshops will help to build up a portfolio of different experiences and confidence all of which will help increase your castability, confidence and creativity.

"It's the 'hands on' experience of doing real castings with the benefit of Suzy's experience and input that is so useful. i.e. being given TV and film scripts to work on and approach as if the casting is for real - to see what does and doesn't work"

How to increase your Casting Potential Day 1 - Commercials Casting & Your Look
Concentrating on the 'alchemy' of commercial castings - the day is intensely practical and interactive - concentrating on the exteriors in a relaxed and informative atmosphere. Bring along your CV and photo for analysis and constructive comment of your 'look'.

There is much onscreen time including Suzy's unique 'Who do We think You Are?' exercise followed by a real time commercial casting exercise and feedback and some helpful notes and pointers for approaching the world of commercial castings.

"I am particularly happy that we got around so many different 'types' of casting, and I think the gentle introduction followed by castings with increasing 'pressure' to prepare and know what you were doing was very useful."

How to increase your Casting Potential Day 2 - TV Casting & The Etiquette
Takes an in depth and practical look at casting for TV Dramas. A thoroughly practical days work where you will be cast in at least two different scenes, get a chance to cold read, sight read and prepare a scene in advance, be put on tape and then review your work in a supportive group environment.

"I found that the sessions were clearly differentiated so that the focus was very specific which made it easy to understand objectives and relevant advice on the day. I liked that the tone was quite casual and friendly which made it slightly less intimidating than some other workshops I have attended."
